Survivor Series (2011) is an upcoming professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by WWE that will take place on November 20, 2011 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. It will be the 25th annual Survivor Series event and the first one to take place in Madison Square Garden since the 2002 event.[1] So far, four matches have been announced for the event.

For the first time in seven years, The Rock wrestled in a match last night (Sun., Nov. 20, 2011) at WWE Survivor Series. It’s fitting that he did so at Madison Square Garden in New York, what with his history and all.

The best part of Rock’s return, though, was the fact that he didn’t look like he had lost even a single step. As a worker, it’s not like he was ever the most technical of wrestlers but his timing and rhythm wasn’t off even in the slightest.

In fact, as our friend Arda Ocal noted on Twitter, “The Great One” did an Oklahoma Roll at the beginning of the match, something he’s never done before. He even followed that up with a Fisherman’s suplex.

He was smooth, fluid and didn’t botch a single spot.

The finishing sequence with Cena ran a tad longer than it needed to but it laid the right ground work and sent the fans home happy … kind of. Cena’s sell job on the Rock Bottom was the worst I’ve ever seen for the move. But “The Most Electrifying Man in Sports and Entertainment” was exactly that last night.

This isn’t to say he was totally perfect. His in ring work was nothing short of amazing but he wasn’t exactly given a lot of time to ply his craft. The majority of his match with Cena against Miz and Truth was spent on Cena taking a beating from the heels until Rock could finally get the hot tag.

I’m sure that was simply a way to both preserve his image and keep his aura but it ran far too long. It felt like 10 to 15 minutes straight of Cena getting beat on while Rock paced back and forth in the corner. It was so long, in fact, that the crowd chanted for Rock to get back in the match.

I also wasn’t the biggest fan of his promo towards the beginning of the show. Not for content, which was solid, as usual. But for length. It felt far too much like he was given a microphone and told to go off for about 10 minutes. The result was a long winded promo that lost me about halfway through.

Still, this has to be considered a smashing success for both Rock and WWE. We won’t know what the pay-per-view buyrate looks like for a while but this felt special, made even more so by the smart New York crowd that marked out for all the right reasons at all the right times and for all the right people.

Some liberals feared that the posting by 20-year-old university student Aliaa Magda Elmahdy would taint them in the eyes of deeply conservative Egyptians ahead of Nov. 28 parliamentary elections in which they are trying to compete with fundamentalist Islamic parties.

Apparently, she was fired by her agency for having sex with three of the four members of her backup band, and a couple of photographs have been released that allegedly show her and one of those musicians in an intimate post-sex moment.

Now, my big question is: what’s so wrong with the fourth band member that she wouldn’t fuck him? Or maybe he refused because he wanted to keep his job in the industry. The wide range of reactions from the 2ch boards is interesting, as there seems to be no real agreement on whether it’s the business of her fanbase to know this stuff, whether or not she’s entitled to get laid (and under these circumstances), and whether or not this is the end of her career (though the overall feeling seems to lean on that being the case, barring a decision to go into AV). There does seem to be some consensus that her apparent sexual partner in these pictures needs a shave.

And if I had to be honest… Well, if I was completely honest, I would want a DVD of Hirano doing all this – especially if there was a four-way going on. But setting aside my desire for more fapping material, I really can’t blame Hirano for indulging herself like this. If I was in that same position and had willing partners (I assume no guns were placed to the band members’ heads), would I buck up and just take cold shower after cold shower? I can’t say for sure, but probably not. And while her gender may have a little to do with the outrage, I sincerely doubt a male would have gotten away with the same thing if also caught. It’s not just the multiple partners thing, it’s the photographic evidence thing that makes it hard for agencies to look the other way.

In a way, I have to wonder if Hirano is being punished just because she got caught. If she hadn’t been so excessive – maybe not three band members, say only two musicians and maybe a roadie to fluff her… Or maybe if she didn’t take any pictures, considering how fucking often these photos get leaked to the public to the point that it’s become a cliche of modern scandals…

I dunno. I hope Hirano can recover from this: I’m only a very casual fan of her work, but it’s the twenty-first century and she’s a grown woman doing what she pleases. I know I’m placing American rock-and-rap values on a different kind of pop culture, but doing what feels good (and requires multiple partners) can’t be all that wrong, can it?
